Citi Improves ThankYou Points to JetBlue TruBlue Transfer Ratio

Citi has sent out notices to its customers announcing an improvement to the ThankYou Points program. It has to do with the transfer ratio of their own currency to the JetBlue TrueBlue program. The change will kick of this Thursday, September 13th, 2018. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Citi ThankYou Preferred: 1,000 ThankYou Points = 500 800 TrueBlue points
  • Citi ThankYou Premier: 1,000 ThankYou Points = 800 1,000 TrueBlue points
  • Citi Prestige: 1,000 ThankYou Points = 800 1,000 TrueBlue points

This change comes just two weeks after JetBlue was added as a transfer partner to the Chase Ultimate Rewards program. Chase offers a transfer ratios of 1:1 so now Citi is matching the same rate on two of its cards, the ThankYou Premier and Prestige.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

It’s good to see the improved rate from Citi. But even with that 1:1 ratio it is not the best idea to transfer points speculatively. It’s not a terrible value but it’s not outstanding either. Hopefully we see some bonuses on top of the new rate soon.
