Citi Premier Has 48 Month Rule for Signup Bonus

Citi has a new increased offer for the Premier card. But this increased offer also comes with new eligibility restrictions as first pointed it out by Rik on our Facebook Group. There’s now a “48 month” restriction, instead of the usual 24 months.

The eligibility terms terms on the new 75,000 ThankYou points bonus are as follows:

Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi Premier account in the past 48 months.

This differs from the language on the standard bonus of 60,000 ThankYou points, which still shows the 24 month language for the whole family of cards:

Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you received a new cardmember bonus for Citi Rewards+®, Citi ThankYou® Preferred, Citi ThankYou® Premier/Citi Premier® or Citi Prestige®, or if you have closed any of these accounts, in the past 24 months.

This has been mentioned once in the past as a possible new rule. The new 48 month rule only counts since the last time you received a bonus on the Citi Premier card only. The 24 month rule covers the whole family of ThankYou credit cards.
