Citi Increases Bonus To 60K On AAdvantage Cards

Citi is offering an increased bonus on the AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard once again, matching the best ever bonus. The exact same offer is available on the personal and business version of the card.

  • Earn 60,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after spending $3,000 within the first 3 months of account opening.

  • Annual Fee: $95, fee waived for the first 12 months.

Here’s the application links for both cards:

Citi’s 24-Month Rule

Citi restricts bonusesto just one per product family per 24 months for personal and business cards. So for example if you received a AAdvantage bonus recently, you can not get a second one again until 24 month after the last application. The worst part is that 24 month clock resets whenever you open OR close a card within that family. This application has that 24-month restriction, so it won’t be useful to most readers.

From time to time certain applications have surfaced on Citi’s site that don’t contain this bonus language, so if you’re not eligible for the bonus, you’ll have to wait for one of those applications to come back again.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

This is the highest bonus we’ve seen on both cards but sadly they have the 24-month restriction in the terms. Even though the bonuses are the same, one positive for the business version is that it doesn’t show up on your credit reports.

If you’re eligible for both, you could net over 120K AA miles.
