Capital One Improves Its Miles Program

Capital One announced today another improvement to its miles program. Six more transfer partners are moving to the new 1:1 Transfer Tier that was introduced back in April.

You can now transfer Capital One Miles to Air Canada (Aeroplan), Air France KLM (Flying Blue), British Airways (Avios), Emirates Airlines (Emirates Skywards), Singapore Airlines (KrisFlyer) and Turkish Airlines (Miles&Smiles) at a 1:1 ration instead of 2:1.5.

The only programs left that do not transfer 1:1 are Accor Live Limitless (2:1) EVA Airways (2:1.5) and JetBlue TrueBlue (2:1.5) which will be discontinued later this month.

Customers will need to transfer a minimum of 1,000 Venture X, Venture X Business, Venture or Spark Miles at a time to travel loyalty programs, and will need to transfer in 100 mile increments.

If you’re an eligible Capital One cardholder, you can transfer your rewards by signing in to your account online or through the Capital One Mobile app. Once you’re signed in, navigate to the rewards section button and select the option to transfer your miles. Before you confirm, remember that there’s no way to transfer miles back into your Capital One rewards account.

Guru’s Wrap-up

Capital One has been improving its miles program and catering more to frequent flyers in recent years. It moved from a fixed value model for its miles, to transfer partners. And it has continuously added more partners and improving the transfer ratio. Now most partners are at 1:1. That makes the Capital One Venture and Capital One Spark Miles cards more valuable as well as they both earn 2X on all purchases.

Capital One is also launching a new lounge network, and improving its travel booking site.
