Air Canada Now Lets You Switch Tickets for Miles or Vouchers with No Expiration
Air Canada has made some customer friendly changes for those who are thinking of canceling flights. The new policy will give passengers a peace of mind when booking tickets. While cash refunds will probably still be hard to get when the airline cancels flights, there are now two options, non-expiring vouchers and miles with a bonus, when passengers cancel voluntarily.
Change & Cancellation Policy
If you book a flight with Air Canada, you can make a one-time change without a fee for all new or existing bookings made through June 30, 2020 for original travel between March 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.
Additionally, if you booked directly with Air Canada and you need to cancel for any reason, now you can also:
- Can convert your ticket to an Air Canada Travel Voucher that has no expiry date OR
- Convert to Aeroplan Miles with an additional 65% bonus miles (1.3¢ per mile)
For customers who booked through a travel agency, Air Canada is working to make these options available.
Guru’s Wrap-up
If you convert your ticket to miles with a 60% bonus you could get even more value than the actual flight you are canceling. Non-expiring vouchers are also useful with the uncertainty of air travel right now.
