(Expired) BB&T Bank, Up To $100 Checking Bonus In Select States (Targeted)

When you open a BB&T personal checking account and use U by BB&T, you can earn up to $100. U by BB&T is their mobile app. The offer is available for new accounts in select states and you need to use promo code APLCO.

BB&T Bank seems to be a bit difficult to deal with when it comes to closing your accounts. I don’t personally have any experience with them.

Requirements

To get the bonus you need to do one of the following:

Use U by BB&T bill payment service to initiate three online bill payments (minimum payment of $25 each) from the new checking account within 75 days OR
Enroll in and receive two direct deposits (minimum of $100 each) to the new personal checking account within 75 days

In addition to all qualifiers listed above, non-resident alien clients must also submit a valid Form W-8, NRA Certification Statement and a copy of their passport to BB&T by the time the account is reviewed for incentive eligibility.

The account-opening incentive will be deposited directly to the checking account within 120 days of account opening and upon qualification for the incentive.

Any account not in good standing, closed, and/or with a balance less than or equal to zero at the time we review account eligibility (between 90-120 days after account opening) will not receive any amount of incentive. Interest will be reported to the IRS as required by law.

Eligibility

The offer is only available in AL, DC, FL, GA, IN, KY, MD, NC, NJ, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA and WV. Previous offers were available only to those who didn’t have an account in the past 12 months.

This offer is intended for select BB&T loan clients without a BB&T checking account, so it’s probably targeted. If you plan to apply make sure you confirm eligibility first.

Fees

Fees will vary in some states. In NJ for example, the best account is the BB&T Back To Basics account which comes with no fees. But in other states that account has a $5 fee which cannot be waived. Check your state for accurate information, because I didn’t go through all of them.

But in most states BB&T Bright Banking will be the best option with a waivable fee. It has a $12 monthly fee that is waived with:

Combined ACH direct deposits totaling $500 or more per statement cycle OR
$1,500 average checking balance per statement cycle OR
Personal BB&T Mortgage

BB&T Bank also has great referral bonuses. If you have an account, you should be able to refer friends and family and you will receive a $100 referral bonus. The referree will still receive this same bonus when they sign up and fulfill all the requirements.
