Amex Marriott Brilliant Bonus Reversed to Previous Less Restrictive Terms

Back in March American Express and Marriott updated the eligibility terms for its Marriott Bonvoy Bevy and Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant cards, making them more restrictive. Now at least the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant card has switched back to the old terms, which is good news. It’s not clear if this is intentional or because they switched back to a regular bonus offer (NLL should still work) after limited-time offer ended.

Current Terms

You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card or the Starwood Preferred Guestยฎ American Express Luxury Card or previous versions of these Cards. You also may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer based on various factors, such as your history with credit card balance transfers, your history as an American Express Card Member, the number of credit cards that you have opened and closed and other factors. If you are not eligible for a welcome offer, we will notify you prior to processing your application so you have the option to withdraw your application.

Welcome offer not available to applicants who:

  • (i) have or have had The Ritz-Carltonยฎ Credit Card from JPMorgan or the J.P. Morgan Ritz-Carlton Rewardsยฎ Credit Card in the last 30 days,

What’s Different?

The part of the terms that has changed is the 30 days look back period. Now it just lists having The Ritz-Carlton card as an exclusion. Before you were excluded from earning the bonus if you had or have a long list of cards such as Boundless, Bountiful, Bold, Marriott Business and many more.

The lifetime rule, as well as the 90 days and 24 months look back period, are still the same.
