Some Personal Amex Delta Cardholders Get Annual Fee Credits
I wrote a few days ago about the possibility of American Express issuing some kind of partial annual fee refund to its cardholders due to the pandemic. We saw these credits for business cardholders first, but now personal cards are seeing similar annual fee credits. These credits are a small portion of the annual fee, but give you extra value in addition to the temporary benefits that Amex has added through the end of the year.
Amex Anniversary Credits
Here are the credits I have seen so far:
- Delta Reserve – $100 statement credit
- Delta Platinum – $50 statement credit
Here’s the text of the email for the Delta Reserve Card:
Thank you for your continued Card Membership – to get your next membership year off to a rewarding start, you are eligible to receive a $100 one-time statement credit after Card renewal.
$100 Statement Credit You will be eligible to receive a one-time $100 statement credit after Card renewal. the statement credit will be applied to the eligible card account within 8-12 weeks of the account renewal month. This statement credit is limited to basic (not Additional) Card Members only. Offer is non-transferable. If the eligible Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card is cancelled, or you have downgraded or upgraded your Card up to 45 days after the first day of your renewal month, you will not receive the one-time $100 statement credit. American Express reserves the right to modify or revoke offer at any time.
I also wrote about travel credit that was offered to Platinum and Centurion cardholders.
Guru’s Wrap-up
These credits likley apply to Delta cardholders that have their anniversary date sometime between now and the end of the year. Even if you didn’t receive en email and your annual fee is coming up, I think you should qualify for this credit. Reach out to American Express to confirm though. These credits are small compared to the annual fees. The Amex Delta Platinum card has a $250 annual fee and the Amex Delta Reserve card has a $550 annual fee.
Also let me know if you have received similar offers about other Amex cards.
