American Express Membership Rewards Transfer Bonus: Up to 30% for Virgin Atlantic

Amex is offering a new transfer bonus. You can now get 30% more Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles when you transfer Membership Rewards points. The offer is targeted, and some might see nothing or only 20%.

The normal transfer rate between the two programs is 1:1 so this bonus gives you 1,300 Virgin Atlantic Miles for every 1,000 Membership Rewards points that you transfer.

Virgin Atlantic miles are not the most valuable, especially after last year’s devaluation but it could still be useful to some that have a specific redemption in mind, such as ANA First Class. On average they are valued at 1.4-1.5 cpp. American Express offers a similar bonus a couple of times a year, so there’s probably no need to transfer points speculatively, without a redemption in mind.
