American Express Membership Rewards Redemption Value Calculator
American Express has a handy Membership Rewards redemption value calculator that lets you see exactly how much your points are worth depending on how you redeem them.
The tool compares redemption values for options like Pay with Points at Amazon, Apple Pay, Best Buy, Dell, Grubhub, PayPal, Seamless, NYC Taxi, statement credits, gift cards, travel bookings, and more. For example, it currently shows that 1,000 Membership Rewards points are worth $7 at most Pay with Points merchants, while NYC Taxi redemptions are worth $10 per 1,000 points.
You can select your card and the amount of points you want to redeem, and you will see the dollar value. You can also check out more redemptions options such as Gift Cards (o.5-1.0 cpp), Statement Credit (0.6 cpp), and Amex Travel (0.7 – 1.0 cpp).
Obviously most of these redemptions options are not a good idea as you’re getting just 0.7 cents per point. You can normally do way better than that by transferring points to travel partners. You can also cash out with the Charles Schwab Platinum Card at 1.1 cents per point.
The most update is the addition of Apple Pay as a Pay with Points redemption option.
