American Expands Standby for Non-Elites
Starting today, American Airlines is expanding who could get on the same-day standby list, which was previously reserved exclusively for Oneworld elites, first class, business class, military passengers, and some non-discounted economy passengers.
Now, all passengers, including those without an AAdvantage frequent flyer number attached to their reservation could fly standby to hopefully get on an earlier or later flight for added flexibility. This is only applicable to domestic flights starting July 1.
Previously, passengers without an AAdvantage account were not eligible to fly standby. Now, complimentary standby is on the table, which is a major win for those flying American Airlines in the future.
