Admirals Club Membership Fee Jumps to $1,400
American Airlines is making major changes to Admirals Club memberships, including a big price increase and a new lower-cost option for travelers who do not need guest access.
Beginning August 23, 2026, a standard Admirals Club membership will cost as much as $1,400 annually, up from the current $850 price for a new general AAdvantage member. That represents an increase of about 65%. Elite members will receive slightly lower pricing, but even Executive Platinum members will pay $1,200.
At the same time, American is introducing a new $750 single membership that provides access only for the member and excludes guest privileges and access to third-party partner lounges.

The full Admirals Club membership includes access for the member plus either immediate family or up to two guests. It also provides access to American’s partner-lounge network. The new single membership is limited to the member and does not include guests or third-party lounge access.
How Much Are Prices Increasing?
Before August 23, a new individual membership costs between $750 and $850, depending on AAdvantage elite status. Renewal rates range from $700 to $800.
The new $750 single membership is closer to the old individual-membership price, but it removes two important benefits: guests and partner lounges.
American says the higher rates will support expanded food and beverage selections, refreshed lounge designs, better service and new concepts such as Provisions by Admirals Club. The airline is also renovating or opening lounges at airports including Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami, Washington Reagan, Austin and Nashville.
Household Memberships Are Going Away
American is also discontinuing household memberships.
Current household memberships will remain valid through the end of their membership year. According to American, members eligible to renew before October 3 may be able to renew at the household rate one final time. Those renewing on or after October 3 will need to choose from the new membership options.
Existing household memberships currently cost between $1,550 and $1,650 for new members, depending on status.
Citi AAdvantage Executive Card Becomes an Even Better Alternative
The higher Admirals Club price makes the Citi / AAdvantage Executive World Legend Mastercard look more attractive for anyone eligible for the card.
The card will continue to include a full Admirals Club membership for the primary cardholder, including access for up to two guests or immediate family members. The annual fee is going up from $595 to $695 for new cardmembers beginning August 23, which is still half the $1,400 price of purchasing a general membership directly.
American is now advertising the included lounge membership as being worth up to $1,400 annually. The refreshed card also adds several new benefits, including up to $500 back on eligible American Airlines Vacations purchases, up to $100 back on eligible inflight and Admirals Club purchases, and up to $180 in annual Lyft credits.
One-Day Passes Remain Unchanged
Admirals Club one-day passes will remain priced at $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles.
Access using a day pass is subject to lounge capacity, and passes may not be sold or accepted at busy locations. Once activated, a pass is valid for 24 hours and requires same-day eligible travel. (American Airlines)

A jump from $850 to $1,400 is difficult to justify for most travelers, even with American’s promised lounge renovations and improved food offerings.
The new $750 single membership provides a more affordable option, but it will not work for everyone. Members choosing that option lose guest access and partner-lounge privileges.
For anyone who wants the full Admirals Club membership, the Citi AAdvantage Executive Card is the best option with with the higher $695 annual fee.
