PayPal has been added in Q3 and Target and Walmart.com have been added for Q4, which should definitely help with your holiday shopping.
Today, Discover announced its 2019 5% Cashback Bonus Calendar, through which cardmembers can earn 5% cash back in quarterly categories, in addition to 1% back on all other purchases with the Discover it card.
Discover revamped its Cashback Bonus program last year to include a quarter-by-quarter calendar, updated rewards categories with more places where Discover cardmembers regularly shop and the ability to access the calendar via Discover’s mobile app and website.
What’s more, Discover automatically matches all the rewards new cardmembers have earned at the end of their first year, as part of its Cashback Match offering. You can read more about the card here.
2019 Discover 5% Categories
- January-March 2019: Grocery Stores
- April-June 2019: Gas Stations, Uber and Lyft
- July-September 2019: Restaurants
- October-December 2019: Amazon.com

Guru’s Wrap-Up
I have the Discover it card myself. The quarterly categories are usually great and easy to maximize. I like that they have released the full calendar, so cardmembers can better plan their purchases throughout the year. If maximized each quarter, you can earn $75 in cashback, or a total of $300 for the year.
