United Airlines MileagePlus Upgrade Award Chart Going Away Soon

United Applies to Expand Service Between San Francisco and Washington National Airport

United Miles Upgrade Chart Going Away

In line with the other big 3 U.S. airlines of Delta and American, United Airlines will soon be aligned with its competitors and will cease to offer a standard award chart for upgrading with miles by November 24, 2025.

Now, the airline is slated to begin implementing a dynamically priced upgrade option during the booking process and for already ticketed reservations.

Soon, you won’t be able to search how much an upgrade costs based on your origin, destination, and fare class via the website based on a set award chart.

Here’s a sample search to Europe.

What was great about this feature was the opportunity to upgrade your flights while booking or after making your purchase. You would just have to find upgrade availability or settle on being put on a waitlist.

Guru’s Wrap-up

This is just another example of airlines devaluing their own mileage programs and making it harder for travelers to know exactly how many points they need to redeem in order to confirm an upgrade into a higher fare class. Fortunately, these changes don’t take effect until November 24.
