Some $20+ Shop Small Purchases Trigger $10 Credit
American Express cardholders can save up to $50 when shopping at eligible small businesses. You just need to enroll an eligible American Express® Card by July 26, 2020, to get a $5 statement credit after using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $10 or more directly with any small business in the U.S. on the Shop Small® Map by September 20, 2020, up to 10 times.
Some unexpected merchants are triggering the credit for this offer, so it is a good idea to keep an eye on your accounts and see if you notice any $5 credits. Additionally some merchants are triggering a $10 credit when the purchase is $20 or more (triggering 2 credit instead of one). These seem to be random. I have seen a couple of data points on reddit and a friend of mine also saw it happen wit a restaurant purchase. This does not change the maximum $50 in credits that you receive, but it does make it easier to use. Let me know if you have seen these $10 credits (not two separate credits from two purchases bundled together).
Keep in mind that you can also use the offer to purchase gift cards in the , Samsung Pay or .
