U.S. startup airline Breeze Airways plans first international flights

The airline’s host of seasonal service kicks off on Jan. 10 with a Saturday-only route between Norfolk, Virginia, and Cancun, Mexico, followed by roundtrips between Charleston, South Carolina, and Cancun on Jan. 17, also only on Saturdays. Other routes include Saturday service to Cancun starting from New Orleans on Feb. 7 and from Providence, Rhode Island, a week later. In March, Breeze is also planning to start Thursday and Saturday service between Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina and Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Wednesday and Saturday service to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Flights from Tampa, Florida, to Montego Bay start on Feb. 11.

Delta’s bizarre credit card policy nearly stranded me in London

My wife and I were directed to a Delta supervisor, who explained that without presenting the credit card used to purchase the tickets she could not issue our boarding passes. The agent explained that Delta’s policy protects us from credit card fraud. But we could verify our identities: We had passports and driver’s licenses. And Delta let us board our flight to London without presenting the credit card. She consulted with her colleagues and tried a few things on her computer, but she was unable to override the security protocol.

Resorts World and Yonkers Casino Plans Move Forward in NYC Area License Race

MGM Empire City in Yonkers and Resorts World in Queens were both approved unanimously by their respective community advisory committees and will now take their casino proposals to a state board that plans to issue new gaming licenses by the end of the year. Both bids are considered frontrunners in the contest for three lucrative casino licenses. Thursday’s votes came as multiple other casino proposals have been snubbed in recent days, including three different projects in Manhattan and a likely rejection for a Coney Island gambling complex.

Cardless Raises $60M Series C On Heels of Coinbase & Bilt Partnerships

Cardless, the credit card platform that lets product-first companies design and launch cards in-house, today announced a $60 million Series C growth round led by Spark Capital. With this round, Cardless has raised over $170 million to date, with continued support from Activant Capital, Industry Ventures, Pear VC, and others. Spark has a track record of backing companies that reshape industries — including Slack, Twitter, and Coinbase — and notably led Anthropic’s $450 million Series C in 2023.
