US Airlines Are Quietly Hitting Solo & Biz Travelers with Higher Fares

All three of the country’s largest carriers (American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta) are penalizing solo travelers with higher ticket prices than you can book when traveling with a group – sometimes, significantly higher.

United is narrowing its check-in window for US flights

Effective June 3, United’s “check-in cutoff” for most U.S. flights will be 45 minutes before departure. That’s the same deadline United has for passengers checking luggage at the airport but 15 minutes earlier than the current one for people without bags to check.

Capital One Shopping pulls even more gift card redemption options

Capital One Shopping has again removed a ton of useful gift card redemption options…over 30 in total. It looks like there only 42 possible redemptions now, and many useful ones are gone, including Lowes, Home Depot, ebay, Instacart, CVS, Ace Hardware and hotels.com. Unlike last month, this appears to be affecting most, if not all, Capital One Shopping customers.

Alaska Airlines launches new era of inflight dining

Alaska Airlines is further elevating inflight dining with the launch of its newest culinary initiative, Chef’s (tray) Table, a First Class dining program designed by celebrated chefs up and down the West Coast. The program debuts with a thoughtfully crafted menu by Chef Brady Ishiwata Williams, the James Beard award-winning talent behind Seattle’s renowned Tomo restaurant.

SFO Amex Centurion Lounge Closes

American Express has closed the CFO centurion lounge in terminal 3 as that terminal is undergoing ‘modernization’. A new lounge in terminal 3 is expected to open in Q3 2027. In the meantime American Express plan to have a temporary lounge located in terminal 2 in mid to late June.
