JetBlue Engaged in Talks for New Alliance with United Airlines

JetBlue and United Airlines are in talks for a possible partnership. Neither airline has made any official statement regarding this, but one of United’s top executives said recently that the carrier is in discussion with a domestic airline and JetBlue said in its earnings call this week that they are still anticipating to announce a US airline partner at some point over the next two months.

The news was first reported by Reuters, saying that the “partnership with United is envisioned as quite different from the NEA… While the alliance is expected to focus on providing greater connectivity to customers and allowing them to earn and burn frequent-flier miles, the two carriers will not coordinate on schedules and pricing.” The report adds that “the two airlines have yet to finalize all the details and cautioned that things could still change.”

The news comes just a day after American Airlines announced that it had ended partnership talks with JetBlue and has also filed a lawsuit against the carrier.
