Google Pay can now automatically import loyalty cards, tickets, and offers from email in your Gmail account. I tried it out and it found a long list of loyalty programs, from airlines, hotels, wholesale clubs and many more.
You can enable it yourself in Google Pay’s settings menu under “General,” and then tap the “Gmail imports” toggle. You need Google Pay v2.86 or higher. Once enabled, Google Pay will look at your Gmail account to pull over whatever data it can.
The new functionality has apparently been added some time in February. It is similar to what’s already offered by Apple Wallet.
