Cathay Pacific Increasing Awards Prices
If you’ve been eyeing a luxury trip to Hong Kong, you’ll want to book sooner rather than later. Cathay Pacific has announced that it will update its award chart in May and unfortunately for travelers on the U.S., long-haul Business Class is getting more expensive.
Starting May 1, 2026, one-way Business Class redemptions from major U.S. hubs will see the following increases:
- Los Angeles (LAX): Currently 88,000 miles, increasing to 91,000 miles (+$3,000).
- New York (JFK) and Boston (BOS): Currently 115,000 miles, increasing to 119,000 miles (+$4,000).
While these aren’t the most massive jumps we’ve seen, it is still a devaluation. It also comes just weeks after Amex reduced its transfer rate for Asia Miles. Any award ticket issued before May 1 will still honor the current, lower rates. See more details here.
