Amex Transfer Ratio to Cathay Pacific Will Drop to 5:4

American Express is making a negative change to the transfer ratio for Cathay Pacific Asia Miles. The change is shared in statements that have posted in recent days and reads:

Effective March 1, 2026, the ratio for transferring Membership Rewards points to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles will be changed from: “1 Membership Rewards point = 1 Asia Mile” to “5 Membership Rewards points = 4 Asia Miles”.

Currently you can transfer 1,000 Amex Points to 1,000 Asia Miles. Starting in March, 1,000 Amex Points will get you only 800 Asia Miles. 

The only good thing here is that they’re giving us advanced notice, so you can transfer now before the rate drops. Some people also have a 15% transfer bonus currently.
