Uber Copter Now Available in NYC, Get 25% Off First Ride to JFK
Uber now lets everyone book a helicopter ride to the airport in NYC. It’s called Uber Copter, and it is definitely the quickest way to get to JFK. The service launched earlier this summer, but initially only to Uber’s top-tier customers. Today it’s open to everyone.
The eight-minute flight to or from JFK with Uber Copter will cost between $200 and $225. Included in that fee is ground transportation on either side of the helicopter flight. Public transit takes between 50 and 75 minutes, and driving might take even longer during rush hour. These helicopter flights are only available for JFK and only to and from Lower Manhattan.
If you’re packing a lot of luggage, then you need to stick to regular Uber rides. Passengers can bring along a small suitcase and have to watch a safety video before takeoff, similar to that on an airplane.
The flights are operated by HeliFlite Shares, a licensed company, and Uber’s prices roughly compare to those of competitors offering helicopter rides to JFK.
Uber Copter is iOS-only for now. It should come to Android soon. If you have an iPhone, you should see Copter rides as an option when checking the Uber app. Point Me to the Plane also posted a discount for those who are looking to try out the new service. If you are an Uber Rewards member, take 25% off your first ride (through November 3, 2019) with code FIRSTCOPTER.
