TSA Allow Shoes to Stay On
🔃 Update: Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem officially announced the new policy today, July 8, 2025, which will allow passengers traveling through domestic airports to keep their shoes on while passing through security screening at TSA checkpoints.
The new policy promises to increase hospitality for travelers and streamline the TSA security checkpoint process, leading to lower wait times.
As flagged by Yahoo, the Transportation Security Administration has announced that all passengers could now keep their shoes on when going through airport security, including those with and without TSA PreCheck.
The only exclusion to this policy shift are those without REAL ID compliant identification would still have to go through additional screening and keep their shoes on. This is a major change in TSA guidelines as this post-9/11 requirement will no longer be enforced after over 20 years.
