Staples Visa Gift Card Promo
There’s a new Staples Visa Gift Card promotion starting April 10, and running through April 16. You can get a $5 discount of the purchase fee for $200 Visa gift cards. That fee is normally $6.95, so you would be paying just $1.95 instead. This is a good opportunity for free credit card rewards, especially when combined with one of the Chase Ink cards [5X Ultimate Rewards] or Amex SimplyCash Plus [5% Cashback]. But it’s not as good as the normal deals that we’ve been used to, with the annually fee completely waived.
Offer
Get $5 off the purchase fee when you buy a $200 Visa® Gift Card. You can see the promotion in next week’s ad.
Offer Terms
- Valid 04/10/21-04/16/21.
- In store only.
- Limit 5 per customer per day.
- The Visa Gift Card is issued by MetaBank
How to Maximize Profits
This is not the best offer from Staples, since they usually have promotion for fee-free Visa Gift Cards. There is a limit of 5, so you can purchase $1,000 in Visa gift cards per day. You can do that at multiple stores daily, so you could easily rack up rewards if you are blessed with multiple locations nearby. Plus there’s no rebates and waiting for a gift card in the mail. Some stores might even let you make multiple purchases of 5 cards.
For every $200 Visa gift card you buy, you can earn 1,000 Chase UR points if you’re using your Chase Ink Plus/Cash card, for a cost of $1.95. With the Amex SimplyCash Plus card you get a $8.05 profit for every card.
How To Liquidate Gift Cards
Visa gift cards can be liquidated by buying money orders at Walmart or at various grocery stores and other locations. But beware of recent issues at Walmart and Kroger. The PIN is already set as the last 4 digits of the card number. The can also be used for bill pay at Walmart and Kmart. If everything else fails, you can always use them everywhere Visa is accepted and you’re still earning 5X on every purchase.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
This might not be the best deal from Staples, but it s still profitable if you have an easy way to liquidate the gift cards. We saw this deal once last year, around the same exact time.
I would suggest going to your nearest location early on Sunday because stock runs out quickly. And remember, this only applies to $200 Visa gift cards.
