Staples, Get $20 Rebate On $300+ Mastercard Gift Cards Plus 5x (4/23-4/29)

Starting this Sunday 4/23/17 through 4/29/17, Staples is offering a $20 Staples gift card via easy rebate when you purchase $300 or more in Mastercard gift cards (see upcoming weekly ad).

The $20 rebate will already give you a small profit, but when combined with one of the Chase Ink cards [5X Ultimate Rewards] or Amex SimplyCash [5% back] the deal becomes much better.

The deal is valid in store only. You can only receive one rebate per household, so you might need the help of friends and relatives to use more than one address when you fill out the rebate forms online. You’re limited to $2,000 in gift card purchases every day, including the fees.

Save your receipts and easily fill out the rebate form online here, to receive your $20 Staples GC.

Liquidating Gift Cards

Mastercard gift cards sold by Staples are issued by U.S. Bank and the PIN is in the packaging. They can be used as PIN-enabled debit cards at various grocery stores, but they’re tricky to use with new POS systems at Walmart.

The Staples gift card can be used to purchase merchandise (but not other gift cards) at Staples. You can also sell them for up to 85.5% of face value ($17.10).

How to Maximize Profits

The best way to maximize the offer, would be to purchase two $200 MCGCs for every transaction. The total cost will be $413.90 and you’ll already make a profit of $6.10 after the $20 rebate. But on top of that you will also receive 2,070 Chase UR points if you’re using your Chase Ink cards.

You could also choose to purchase one $200 MCGC and one $100 MCGC and still get the rebate. You’ll pay $1 less in fees but you’ll receive 500 less UR points.
