Starting on Sunday 12/4/16 through 12/10/16, Staples is offering a $20 Staples Gift Card through Staples Easy Rebates when you purchase $300 or more in Amex gift cards (see weekly ad, page 2). The $20 rebate will already give you a small profit, but when combined with one of the Chase Ink cards [5X Ultimate Rewards] or Amex SimplyCash [5% cash back] the deal becomes much much better.
This is not one of the best deals that Staples offers since you’re buying Amex gift cards that are hard to unload and you receive a Staples gift card, instead of a Visa gift card that can be used anywhere.
The deal is valid in store only. You can only receive one rebate per household, so you might need the help of friends and relatives to use more than one address when you fill out the rebate forms online. The $20 Staples gift cards can only be used at Staples or you can sell them for 84% of their value if you prefer cash.
You’re limited to $2,000 in gift card purchases every day, including the fees.
The best way to maximize the offer, would be to purchase two $200 Amex gift cards for every transaction. The total cost will be $413.90 and you’ll already make a profit of $6.10 after the $20 rebate. But on top of that you will also receive 2,070 CHASE UR points if you’re using your Chase Ink cards.
20% Off When You Buy $50 In Select Gift Cards
Starting on Sunday 12/4/16 through 12/10/16, Staples also has an offer on third party gift cards. The ad only shows Petco, Toys’R’Us and Xbox but hopefully there’s more than that.
Remember that there’s an Amex Offer for $20 off $100 at Staples which should stack nicely with this.
