• Registration must be completed prior to booking and commencement of travel.
• A qualifying flight is a one-way revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city, including any intermediate stops and/or connections or a round trip revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city and back to the originating airport or carrier-recognized co-terminal.
• The Promotional Companion Pass is valid from January 6 to February 28, 2021 and allows you to designate one person to fly with you, free of airline charges (does not include taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way) on flights purchased by you from January 6 to February 28, 2021, booked through Southwest, and completed between January 6 to February 28, 2021.

The Southwest Airlines Companion Pass is a benefit that allows you to choose one person to fly with you, free of airline charges every time you purchase or redeem points for a flight. That person just needs to pay taxes and fees, from $5.60 one-way.

To earn the Southwest Companion Pass, you need to fly 100 qualifying one-way flights or earn 125,000 qualifying points in a calendar year. The easiest way is to earn the points through Southwest credit card bonuses and spend. Once earned, the Companion Pass is valid for the following full calendar year, plus the remainder of the year in which you earned it. So it is usually a good idea to earn it as early in the year as possible, since you can take advantage of it for almost two whole years that way.

With this promotion you only get the Southwest Companion Pass for 53 days, between 1/6-2/28/2021. So it really doesn’t matter when you earn it. You just need to register for the promotion, purchase a flight by 9/24, and travel by 11/15.
