SCHLOSS Roxburghe Quietly Moves to Category 5

Today marked the start of Hyatt’s 2026 award chart and category changes, but it looks like at least one property changed categories without being included in Hyatt’s published list.

SCHLOSS Roxburghe in Scotland has quietly moved from Hyatt Category 4 to Category 5. That means the property is no longer eligible for Hyatt Category 1-4 free night certificates, which made it one of the better redemptions for those awards in Europe.

What makes this notable is that SCHLOSS Roxburghe did not appear on Hyatt’s official category change list released last month. The announced changes went into effect today alongside Hyatt’s new five-tier award pricing system.

The property offers a rare luxury castle-style stay in Scotland. Until yesterday you could book it for 12,000, 15,000 or 18,000 points. Now, as a Category 5 property, award pricing starts at 15,000 points on the new “Lowest” tier and can go as high as 35,000 points per night at peak pricing under Hyatt’s updated award chart.

It’s unclear whether this was simply an oversight by Hyatt or a last-minute adjustment. Either way, it’s disappointing for World of Hyatt members who were hoping to use Category 1-4 certificates at the property going forward.
