People’s United Bank is offering some new bonuses which are available online. However, these bonuses might be targeted and probably not as good as the ones we often see from them when applying through their locations within Stop & Shop stores.
Bonus Requirements
- To qualify for the $100 reward, you must:
- Open a Plus Checking account;
- Mention promo code CHK100; AND
- Receive direct deposits made to this account totaling $500 or more within 90 days of account opening.
- To qualify for the $200 reward, you must:
- Open an Advantage Checking or Advantage Plus Checking account;
- Mention promo code CHK200; AND
- Receive direct deposits made to this account totaling $1,000 or more within 90 days of account opening.
- To qualify for the $400 reward, you must:
- Open a Premier Advantage Checking account;
- Mention promo code CHK400; AND
- Receive direct deposits made to this account totaling $1,000 or more within 90 days of account opening.
Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. They also have a referral program where you can earn up to $500 by referring 10 friends.

Guru’s Wrap-Up
The $200 and $400 bonuses requires a large balance to keep the account fee-free so I think they wouldn’t be worth it. The $100 bonus is the most viable option here. But even that bonus is not as good as those $100 offers we often see from this bank. The direct deposit is $500 instead of $100 and it is not optional. It also has language that makes it seem like a targeted offer, so it might be best to skip this one. If you’re going for it, make sure to check if you’re eligible first, before applying. Not worth gambling it for $100.
