Alaska Makes Massively Negative Changes To Its Companion Pass

One of the best perks of the Atmos Rewards Ascent and Atmos Rewards Visa Signature Business Cards is their companion pass. For $99, plus taxes and fees, holders of the companion pass can bring a second traveler with them on their Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines itinerary. But multi-city booking is no longer possible.

Marriott Pocketed Thousands In Fake “City Fees” — Until A Reader Made Them Stop

X1 Credit Card Announces Negative Changes

“Because you’re an X1 Cardholder, you’ve made it to the front of the line to apply for the Robinhood Gold Card. There are 3 million people on the waitlist, and you’re off of it. The Robinhood Gold Card offers 3% cash back on all categories, plus 5% cash back on travel. We’re also updating the X1 Rewards Program rules, starting on Nov 21, 2025.”

So Long, Sapphire Reserve – Why We’re Most Definitely Done Indefinitely

Benjy says: Since the new version’s launch, I’d been planning to downgrade my current Sapphire Reserve card to a Freedom once the 2025 annual fee hits.  My account’s annual fee is unfortuitously hitting beyond this year’s deadline for the grandfathered $550 amount.  Rather than immediately accepting the hiked $795 annual fee, I’m opting to sit back until I feel the need to upgrade a Freedom account to a Reserve.

California Increases Giftcard Cashout To $15 From $10

In California by law (CIV § 1749.5CIV § 1749.5) any gift certificate with a cash value of less than ten dollars ($10) is redeemable in cash for its cash value. California has passed a new bill that increases this to $15 and also includes eGiftcards.
