Delta will add flights to keep planes no more than 60% full

Delta will keep planes no more than 60% full through at least July, adding more flights to its schedule than demand would usually justify, people familiar with the matter said. The move is part of a longer-term bet that CEO Ed Bastian highlighted to investors last month: that consumers’ perceptions of safety will be instrumental in reviving more routine travel, and that they will be willing to pay a premium for comfort.

Coronavirus set to cause biggest emissions fall since second world war

Global carbon emissions are likely to see their steepest fall this year since the second world war, according to researchers who say coronavirus lockdown measures have already cut them by nearly a fifth. But the team warns that the dramatic drop won’t slow climate change. The first peer-reviewed analysis of the pandemic’s impact on emissions predicts they will fall between 4.2 and 7.5 per cent on last year. A rise of around 1 per cent had been expected for 2020 before the crisis.

A pizzeria owner made money buying his own $24 pizzas from DoorDash for $16

A pizzeria owner suddenly got an influx of customers complaining about delivery when the restaurants didn’t offer delivery. “He realized that a delivery option had mysteriously appeared on their company’s Google Listing. The delivery option was created by Doordash. Apparently, this is one way that DoorDash does customer acquisition, by bullying restaurants. But in this case DoorDash priced the pizzas incorrectly. “A pizza that cost $24 was listed as $16 by Doordash.

Scientists from the Korean Centers for Disease Control and Prevention studied 285 Covid-19 survivors who had tested positive for the coronavirus after their illness had apparently resolved, as indicated by a previous negative test result. The so-called re-positive patients weren’t found to have spread any lingering infection, and virus samples collected from them couldn’t be grown in culture, indicating the patients were shedding non-infectious or dead virus particles.

Chuck E. Cheese sells pizza under a different name on Grubhub

Family pizza chain Chuck E. Cheese is selling pizza under a new name on delivery services like Grubhub, according to a report from TMZ. And the name is Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings, an ode to the brand’s fictional pizza chef.

Pier 1 wants to close all its stores for good

Pier 1 announced Tuesday that it’s asking the bankruptcy court to cease its retail operations “as soon as reasonably possible.” It blames temporary store closures caused by coronavirus and failing to find a buyer for the drastic decision.
