Marriott Ends Agreement with Sonder, Guests Getting Kicked Out

Marriott Ends Agreement with Sonder

Marriott International revealed on Sunday that it has terminated its licensing agreement with lodging rentals company Sonder because the company is going into default. Sonder, which provides apartment-style accommodations, signed an agreement with Marriott in 2024.

Marriott said Sonder is no longer affiliated with Marriott Bonvoy, adding that Sonder properties are no longer available for new bookings through Marriott’s channels. Chat reps are telling costumers that Sonder no longer exists as of today.

The news is affecting those who have booked Sonder stays and more importantly those who are currently at Sonder properties. Over the weekend many guests have reported that they are being kicked out of their rooms. Sonder is also firing staff.

Another guest reports being asked to leave a Sonder property in Chicago in the middle of a winter storm and the heat has been turned off. There’s another report here of a guest having to leave a New York City property mid-stay.
