JetBlue Hikes Checked Bag Fees

JetBlue has raised its checked bag fees by as much as $9 per bag, citing “rising operating costs”. The higher fees took effect this week, just two years after the last round of price increases.

Now most domestic economy passengers will pay $39 for their first checked bag, up from $35. During peak travel times passengers will have to pay $49 instead of $40. If paying less than 24 hours before departure, such as at the airport, travelers will pay $10 more.

Travelers with a co-branded credit card and frequent flyers with elite status will continue to get free bags.
