If you have a Discover It card you’re in luck, they started running a great promotion today, doubling all their cash back bonuses. If you don’t have it, still no worries, you can sign up for it with my referral which will give you (and me) $50. (UPDATE: The bonus is doubled as well, so it’s $100). Doctor of Credit broke the news two days ago, and the deal is now live. To sign up for the offer, you have to be a card holder (new or existing) and call 800-347-3085 and ask to be enrolled. You can also do this with the Live Chat on the Help Center at Discover.com. There’s no promo codes required. It’s just that simple. Once the offer is added to your card, then you’ll start earning double cash back on all your purchases, starting from the first day of your new billing period in June. So if your billing period ends on June 13th, then all purchases made from June 14th and on, will earn double cash back.
You should do this right away, but if you decide to wait, you have until July 31st to enroll. And you should enroll, because this is one of the greatest deals of late.
Once you sign up, you will receive double cash back for the next 12 billing periods, but all the bonus cash back will be credited on the 13th billing period, which is the only bad thing about this deal. But it will be a lump sum.
So with the double cash back you will earn
- 10% cash back in rotating categories
- 2% cash back on all purchases
Discover Deals, will they double?
Discover Deals is a great shopping portal that already offers big savings such as 10% back at Sears and can even be used for double dipping, or even more. When I called this morning to add the offer to my Discover It card, the rep confirmed that Discover Deals will earn double cash back as well. I called once more, to verify that the offer was added to my card, and to ask again about Discover Deals, and I received the same answer.
If they’re right, this might be the best part of this deal, since rotating categories have caps, but Discover Deals don’t. That would mean an easy 20% off at Sears, or 40% off with little effort involving gift cards.
