Hong Kong Airlines is honoring the error fares that were booked back in August of last year. These were $531 round trip Business Class fares to Asia, an incredible deal. The announced soon after that they would be honoring the fares that were purchased. But today I read at View from the Wing about a pretty smart move from Hong Kong Airlines, to at least get something out these cheap seats that were given away.
If you purchases one of those mistake fares, you get a special card upon boarding your Business Class seat. Besides a warm welcome, is also asks passengers to take photos onboard and share them on social media with the hashtags #hkairlines and #businessclassfare. A great idea that makes the best out of the situation, giving customers the fares they booked, and generating some social media buzz for the airline itself.
