IHG has a promotion that will get you their top elite status in 90 days and then for another year if you fulfill the requirements. You will keep Platinum status with 5 stays (normally requires 40 stays) or Spire status with 10 stays (normally requires 75 stays). The offer seems targeted to employees of certain companies. The registration works for everyone. I received confirmation of registration and the promotion shows in my offers in my account. But I didn’t receive instant status.
Now, IHG elite status doesn’t provide you with much, compared to other chains. But it’s still a useful perk, especially if you plan to match for status with other brands.
You do get complimentary room upgrades, 100% more bonus points and the option to get 25,000 points or gift Platinum status to a friends among other things.
Offer Terms
The Instant Spire Elite offer allows full time employees of an Eligible Company to experience most of the Spire Elite membership benefits for 90 days upon joining IHG Rewards Club or registering for the offer as an existing IHG Rewards Club member.
The Offer is valid between August 1, 2018 and October 31, 2018 and the member will have 90 days from the day of registration to consume the designated number of nights required to retain elite status for the calendar year of 2019.
Instant Spire Elite members under this Offer will receive the bonus points or gifting benefit after completion of the required Stays.
Minimum qualifying rate of $35.

It’s not clear who qualifies for this promotion, but it’s worth registering as it takes just a few seconds. Let me know if it works for anyone. As mentioned above IHG top status is not really worth much, but should be of great value if you can match for status with your favorite brands.
