Franki App: Earn Cash Back for Dining and Restaurant Reviews

Franki Dining App Review

Franki Dining App Review

Franki is a relatively new app that helps you save on dining. It also has social discovery and video-based review features where users can interact with a community of foodies, discover local dining spots and create their own videos and get paid for them.

I first read about this app at Doctor of Credit and after a Google search also saw a TechCrunch article from last year. The app, which is available on Google Play and Apple Store, launched in 2021 and the company calls itself the “TikTok for restaurant reviews”. The good thing is that you don’t have to actually crate content or leave reviews.

You can just add a a credit card to the Franki app via Plaid and you can start earning 5% to 20% cash back on your next restaurant bill. To earn cash back you just used the link card to pay at an eligible restaurant. You can even stack savings with cash back from Rakuten and possibly other apps like Upside, Bilt Rewards and Seated.

Finding Restaurants Near You

Franki has lots of eligible restaurants, especially in big cities in the United States. As of August 2024, Franki was operating in 30 U.S. cities, including Austin, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Diego, among others. But it should be available in many more cities by now, and it aims to roll out to international markets possibly next year.

Once you link a card in the app, you will see the cash back rate that you can earn at each merchant. Even if you don’t see a restaurant listed in the app, search by name and it will likely pop up.

Earning Cash Back

When users dine at participating restaurants and activate a cash-back offer, they get 5% cash back based on their spending. Some restaurants offers as much as 20% cash back. Creators who share videos of their dining experiences earn an additional 1%. There’s mo maximum on the cash back that you can earn.

Franki also offers “Level Up” bonuses to motivate users to continue using the app, which gives users additional benefits when they reach a new tier in the Social Club program. The company explained that the most active members unlock “bigger and better” rewards as they progress to higher levels. Once you reach a high enough level, you become a Franki insider and start getting paid $10 per video. There’s also a feature called “Adventures,” which are similar to scavenger hunts but for finding nearby restaurants.

The cash back you earn can be deposited directly in your bank account through a connected debit card via Plaid.

Signup Bonus

The Franki app has a referral bonus and signup bonus for new users.

When you sign up through a referral link, you get 10% cash back for one month (instead of the regular 5% cash back rate). You can still earn up to 20% cash back at select restaurants. You also get $2 cash back for signing up and possibly $10 after first purchase in select states.

The person referring I believe gets a $10 referral bonus.

You can sign up with my referral link if you want to try it out. You can also share referrals in our Facebook Group.
