First Tennessee Bank is offering a great bonus of $250 when you open a new checking account with promo code ONLINE. To earn the bonus, you must have an opening deposit of at least $300 and set up direct deposit. The offer is available from September 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016.
There is no monthly service charge with direct deposit and no minimum balance required. It’s a soft pull, so no worries. You’ll get all the usual stuff for free as well such as free Banking Online, free Bill Pay Online, free Mobile Banking, and free Monthly Statements Online.
Express Checking is the best option. It comes with a $5 monthly fee which can be waived with at least one direct deposit per statement cycle and online statements.
If you’re opening multiple accounts from the same PC, make sure to clear your history before applying again, or use different browsers.
The offer is available to residents of
AR, GA, MS, NC, TN, & VA, (terms updated, HT to Jim in comments below) but I opened it from NYC and I received the bonus ($150 offer) earlier this year so most likely this is available nationwide. Must be a U.S. citizen.
The $250 bonus will be credited to your account within 6 weeks of meeting all requirements and will be reported as income on Form 1099-INT.
This offer is for new checking households only, or for households who have not had an open First Tennessee consumer checking account in the previous 12 months. Limit one bonus per household, but not really enforced.

Link is not working
Thanks. Yes it has been taken down, but there’s reports that the code ONLINE still works/ Please confirm first then apply.
I only see a direct link for the $150 offer. https://www.firsttennessee.com/landing/OFB150
Was there a minimum for the DD bonus?? @Danny, I noticed you only ACH pushed $1.20
Terms say that you need to “set up direct deposit”, so there’s shouldn’t be a minimum. Any amount should work. I would keep it over a dollar though.
Np. Same to you Mike!
I used Alliant Cu and got “credit” under type and “Alliant CU. ONLINE WD” as the description. Is that what you got, danny?
Thank you danny! Have a great new years!
dannydealguru what are the first 6 digits of the code you blurred out in the picture following the Alliant CU Online WD? I ask because I have sent ACH/trial deposits from 9 different banks and noticed that in all of the transactions, the first 6 digits in the description all start with 1 of 4 different possibilities. I was thinking this may have to do with how the transactions are coded and may provide insight into what code corresponds to direct deposit.
Sorry Jeff I don’t have the original picture anymore and I have closed the account.
That’s interesting though. I’ll look into that myself as well. See if there’s anything out there.
Nevermind. I just realized the codes are digits of the date. I realized with my first 2016 transactions.
nice bonus and pretty easy reqs.. opening one for myself and one for my SO
How long did it take for the bonus to post?
Is it a must to be a US citizen? I am a PR and not sure to go through the process or not..
Good question, never thought of it. Must be a U.S. citizen. I’ll update the post as well.

any data points what works for dd?
Alliant and Cap One 360 have both worked for me
Just a regular money transfer from alliant credit union to the bank?
Hi again dannydealguru! I just transferred money from Alliant CU to First Tennessee and it shows up as “credit” under the type of transaction. Is that how it showed up on your online account as well? Thanks!
capital one worked for me
Do you know if the one per household limit is enforced?
I did get 2 bonuses on the same address
Did you open both at the same Tim?
This is the highest offer they have ever had I believe
just a data point
I received the $150 bonus from CT. but sadly that makes me ineligible for this one
Thank you. Same here regarding the $15 bonus, but I should be eligible again for the bonus if the offer really sticks around till march.
