E*Trade Customers Can Apply for Morgan Stanley Platinum Card
If you’re looking to apply for the The Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley, then you can do so just by having a free E*Trade brokerage account. I’m not sure when this option was added, but you can see it here.
The current bonus on the card is 80,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $8,000 on purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card membership. But we have seen offers as high as 150,000 points in the past.
It’s worth noting that there’s a family rules for all flavors of the Platinum card. The terms of this offer state that “You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card, the Platinum Card®, the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Charles Schwab or previous versions of these Cards.”
The main reason people choose the Morgan Stanley Platinum card is because it comes with an additional Platinum Card for no additional annual fee ($195 on other Platinum cards). That additional user gets lounge access and some other benefits. The Morgan Stanley Platinum card also lets you cash out points at 1 cent each, which is better than the regular Platinum card, but not as good as the Charles Schwab Platinum card. It may also be easier to get approved for the Morgan Stanley Platinum card compared to the regular Platinum card.
It’s worth noting that E*Trade customers do not get the $895 annual fee waiver for the primary cardholder. That’s only a benefit for Platinum CashPlus accounts which have a $55/month fee.
