Discover has confirmed that it will discontinue the price protection benefits on its cards. Price Protection will no longer be offered as of October 31, 2018. Purchases made prior to October 31, 2018 will be eligible for coverage under the original terms of the benefit.
Current terms state that Discover will refund the difference up to $500 on eligible items if you find a lower price at any store within 90 days of purchase.
Discover also eliminated some other benefits earlier this year such as extended warranty, purchase protection, return guarantee, auto rental coverage and flight accident insurance.
Discover’s price protection was one of the better ones. It didn’t exclude limited-quantity items. That made it a handy way to save money in advance of major sales events, such as Black Friday.
