Discover it Miles Cardholders Have a New Way to Use Miles

As the pandemic is putting a financial strain on millions of Americans, Discover has introduced a new redemption option for Discover it Miles cardmembers. If you have the card, you can use miles to pay your bill, including their minimum payment.

Here’s what Meera Sridharan, VP of Rewards and Product Strategy at Discover had to say about the reason for this change:

We know consumers have scaled back their travel plans and want more flexibility with how they can use their travel rewards, especially as they shift their spending toward value and essentials. We’ve taken these consumer needs into account by creating more ways for Discover it® Miles cardmembers to redeem their rewards which now includes paying their bill with Miles they have earned. With this added benefit, our Discover it® Miles cardmembers have more flexibility and control over their rewards and continue to get value on the dollars they spend.

In addition to using their Miles toward their bill, Discover it Miles cardmembers can redeem Miles for credit on travel purchases, deposit them for cash into their bank account and/or redeem points at Amazon.com or when paying with PayPal. As always, cardmembers can continue to earn unlimited 1.5x Miles for every dollar they spend on ALL purchases, and rewards never expire.

If you don’t have the card, you can sign up now for a $100 bonus. Discover also offers the Discover it card that comes with 1% cashback on all purchases and 5% on quarterly categories.
