Turkish Airlines Offers 40% Bonus on Citi ThankYou Transfers
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles has launched a new 40% transfer bonus for Citi ThankYou Rewards members. Instead of Citi advertising the bonus, this offer is being run by Turkish Airlines. Members transfer Citi ThankYou points to Miles&Smiles at the normal rate, and Turkish Airlines will add the bonus miles after the promotion ends. Let’s go over the details.
Transfer Bonus Details
Miles&Smiles members can receive 40% extra miles when transferring eligible Citi ThankYou points between August 1 and August 31, 2026.
The standard transfer ratio remains 1:1, so transfers should work as follows:
- 1,000 Citi points become 1,000 Miles&Smiles miles initially, plus 400 bonus miles
- 10,000 Citi points become 10,000 miles initially, plus 4,000 bonus miles
- 50,000 Citi points become 50,000 miles initially, plus 20,000 bonus miles
- 125,000 Citi points become 125,000 miles initially, plus the maximum 50,000 bonus miles
Turkish Airlines caps the bonus at 50,000 miles, so there is no benefit to transferring more than 125,000 Citi ThankYou points under this offer. The bonus applies only to redeemable Miles&Smiles miles and does not include Status Miles.
The promotion ends on August 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Türkiye time, which is earlier than midnight in the United States. You should probably avoid waiting till last minute to transfer.
Is It Worth Transferring?
A 40% bonus can make Miles&Smiles more attractive for travelers with a specific Turkish Airlines or Star Alliance redemption in mind. For example, transferring 50,000 Citi points would ultimately produce 70,000 Miles&Smiles miles.
However, transfers should not be made speculatively. Miles&Smiles had a recent devaluation, miles have expiration rules, award availability can be difficult to find and some awards come with substantial taxes or carrier-imposed surcharges.
Confirm that the award you want is available and check the cost in miles before moving points. Citi transfers cannot be reversed.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
This bonus is being awarded directly by Turkish Airlines. It’s a decent 40% bonus, but we have seen promotions for 50% in the past from Citi and more recently from Rove.
Expect the initial transfer to appear at the standard 1:1 ratio, with the extra miles posting separately after the promotion ends. The maximum bonus is 50,000 miles, which requires transferring 125,000 Citi ThankYou points.
