Citi has announced it will make some changes to the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard in July. The card is getting some extra benefits and there’s also a small increase of the annual fee.

Here’s the changes that you should see in a couple of months:

  • Automatically earn 2X miles at restaurants and at gas stations
  • Earn a $100 American Airlines flight discount after you spend $20,000 or more in purchases during your cardmembership year and renew your card.
  • The annual membership fee for this card will be increasing from $95 to $99.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

These are very small improvement for the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard. The 2X miles earning at restaurants and at gas stations could be useful for some who really want AA miles, but there’s better cards out there. Putting $20,000 spend for a $100 American Airlines flight discount is also not very enticing. Then there’s also the small increase in the annual fee. These changes will take effect on July 22 for those who already have the card, but Frequent Miler reports that new cardmembers will be able to use them starting on May 3rd.
