Update 5/15/2018: The bonus is now $50 for both parties. You can sign up here or use Alisha’s referral who alerted me to the better bonus.
The referred friend must open a new Chime Spending Account (“Account”) using the referring Chime member’s unique referral link between May 10, 2018-May 31, 2018 and the Account must receive a payroll direct deposit of $200.00 or more within 45 days from when the Chime Spending Account was opened.
Chime first came out as a prepaid/reloadable card but it has been since transformed into a full service FDIC insured bank account that offers both a Spending Account and a Savings Account. Read more about that switch here. They also offer deals similar to Amex Offers, but there’s not been many good ones lately.
$25 Signup Bonus
Now they are offering their best signup bonus ever. It’s not much, only $25, but better than the $10 bonus they had in the past.
To qualify for and receive the $25.00 referral reward, the following conditions must be met:
- Must open a new Chime Spending Account using the referring Chime member’s unique referral link between October 1, 2017 and October 31, 2017 AND
- Receive a payroll direct deposit of $200.00 or more before November 30, 2017.
The payroll direct deposit of the referred friend must be made by their employer or payroll provider by an ACH deposit. Bank ACH transfer, Pay Friends transfers, verification or trial deposits from financial institutions, transfers from PayPal or Venmo, and cash loads do not qualify as a payroll direct deposit. Referring Chime member must be part of the $25.00 for Payroll Direct Deposit referral reward campaign in order for both parties to be eligible for the $25.00 referral reward.
Reward is paid within two business days after qualifying funds are first deposited into the Spending Account.
Referral Bonus
You can also earn referral bonuses of $25 for each member you refer that completes the qualifying requirements above. Eligible referring Chime members can earn no more than $500.00 in referral rewards per calendar year (January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2017).
Rewards
I’ve been a member for over two years now. I take advantage of some of their offers occasionally, but I haven’t seen any good ones recently. Here’s what’s currently in the Rewards section:

Chime is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided by, and debit card issued by, The Bancorp Bank or Stride Bank, N.A.; Members FDIC.
