Chase No Longer Matching Better Credit Card Offers?

Chase No Longer Matching Better Credit Card Offers?

Chase has long been one of the best credit card issuers when it comes to matching better offers. If you apply for a card and then there is a better bonus for that same card within three months, Chase would normally match you to that better offer. The process was also quick and easy. You just needed to send a secured message and they would take care of it.

However, it looks like that is no longer the case. It has now happened repeatedly with several recent offers, where Chase reps are telling cardholders that they cannot be matched to a better bonus. I first wrote about the issue when the new Chase Sapphire Preferred 80K bonus was released. Even before that matches were not offered for better United card bonuses. And now people are being denied for a match to the new Chase IHG Premier card bonus that I wrote about earlier.

Let me know if you have recently contacted Chase to match to a better credit card offer, and whether you have had any success in recent months. Hopefully this is just a temporary policy.

  1. I was approved for the Sapphire Preferred card when the bonus was 60K points. A month later, right after I met the minimum spend, the 80K offer came out. I asked Chase to match the new offer, but no luck.
