Chase Freedom Flex Losing Cell Phone Protection Benefit

Chase Freedom Flex Cell Phone Protection Ending

Chase Freedom Flex Cell Phone Protection Ending September 20

Chase is removing the cell phone protection benefit from the Chase Freedom Flex® card later this year. The updated benefits guide shows that coverage will end on September 20, 2026, with eligible claims only covered through September 19.

Until then, Freedom Flex cardholders can receive protection against covered damage or theft when they pay their full monthly wireless bill with the card. The benefit currently has a $50 deductible, provides up to $800 per approved claim, and allows up to two claims in a 12-month period, with a maximum combined payout of $1,000 per year. The coverage is supplemental to other insurance policies and excludes issues such as cosmetic damage and dead batteries.

This has been a useful benefit on a no-annual-fee card, especially for households with expensive phones. Cardholders who rely on the Freedom Flex for protection should switch their wireless bill to another eligible card before the benefit ends.

There are still a few no-annual-fee alternatives that include cell phone coverage. The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card and Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card both offer up to $600 per claim.
