Book JetBlue Mint with Emirates Miles

JetBlue Mint is a luxurious lie-flat business class service that flies on select JetBlue routes in the U.S., to some Caribbean countries and soon to London. Now some of those fancy Mint seats can be booked with Emirates Skywards miles. JetBlue and Emirates were already partners. You could already book economy seats also with Emirates miles, so the news here is that you can use the miles to book Mint as well.

To book a flight using Skywards Miles with JetBlue, log in here, click on Spend now, choose Book Classic Rewards Flight and select search partner flights only. You will then be able to check the availability of flights and use your Miles at checkout. Check the table below for the number of Miles you need for a one-way reward flight. You’ll need twice the number of Miles for a return reward flight.

Zone One-way distance (miles) Economy Mint
1 0-250 8,000 16,000
2 251-500 10,000 20,000
3 501-1,000 14,000 28,000
4 1,001-2,000 20,000 40,000
5 2,001-3,000 26,000 52,000
6 3,001-4,000 32,000 64,000
7 4,001-5,000 38,000 76,000
8 5,001-6,000 44,000 88,000
9 6,001-7,000 50,000 100,000
10 7,001-15,000 60,000 120,000

As you can see, you can book Mint starting from just 16,000 Skywards miles each way. But NerdWallet that first wrote about this, notes that JetBlue Mint award tickets realistically start at 1,000 miles distance and 40,000 Skywards miles each way. So you can fly Mint from Boston to St. Maarten for 40,000 Skywards miles, or from New York to Las Vegas for 52,000 Skywards miles. That’s much less than the amount of JetBlue TrueBlue points that you would need for those same flights.

Keep in mind that London and some other routes are not available to book with Skywards miles. There are also some limitations and tricks that could make it easy to find availability, and NerdWallet has more information on that.

While most people might not have a big stash of Emirates Skywards miles, the good news is that you can transfer from all major point currencies. Emirates is a transfer partner for Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou.

Guru’s Wrap-up

This is a great new option to book JetBlue Mint. You can easily get more Emirates Skywards miles by transferring from all major programs. But make sure you compare pricing with JetBlue points and even cash in some cases to make sure that you pick the option that best works for you.
