Summer is here. And what better way to spend summer days than laying in the sand at a beach. And to help you pick the perfect beach, there’s a top 10 list of the best beaches in the country. Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, also known as Dr. Beach has complied the list, as he does every year. The Best Beaches 2019 list is based on 50 criteria such as water temperature and color, type and color of sand, garbage in the water, overcrowding, amenities and more.
For 2019, Kailua Beach Park in Oahu, Hawaii is listed as the top beach in the country. It’s described as “a beautiful white sand coral beach with generally small waves, making it great for swimming and kayaking.”
Two other Hawaii beaches also made the list, Duke Kahanamoku Beach in Oahu and Hapuna Beach State Park in Big Island. The rest of the list has beaches in Florida (2), North and South Carolina, California, New York and Massachusetts.
