Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Cards to Convert to Citi
American Airlines and Citi extended their partnership in December of 2024, with Citi becoming the exclusive issuer of American Airlines’ AAdvantage® co-branded credit card portfolio in the U.S.
Now we know when Barclays customers will transition to Citi. On April 24, 2026, the bank that issues the AAdvantage® Aviator® Mastercard® is changing from Barclays Bank Delaware (Barclays) to Citibank, N.A. (Citi). The Barclays AAdvantage® Aviator® credit card account will be automatically transferred to Citi and the AAdvantage® Aviator® card will be converted to a Citi® / AAdvantage® credit card.
You will receive a new Citi credit card and account number. Your existing credit limit and cardmember anniversary date will remain the same.
Cardmembers will be able to continue using their Barclays AAdvantage® Aviator® card as usual as long as your account remains open. From April 24, 2026 – April 26, 2026, you will not be able to log into your online or mobile account with either Citi or Barclays.
All AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points earned from transactions made on your AAdvantage® Aviator® Mastercard® and deposited to your AAdvantage® account will not be affected by this transition. Any miles and Loyalty Points earned from transactions made on your AAdvantage® Aviator® Mastercard® will be posted to your AAdvantage® account 8-10 weeks following earning activity.
