Bank of America Application Rules
- There’s no hard limit on the number of Bank of America credit cards that you can have at one time. But as most other banks, there’s a total credit limit that the bank is willing to extend to you based on your stated income, credit score and other factors. If you hit that limit, then you might need to move credit around to get approved for new credit cards.
- Bank of America has a 2/3/4 rule. That means that there’s a limit of two cards in the last two months, three cards in the last 12 months, and four cards in the last 24 months. This applies to Bank of America cards only.
- Then there’s a 3/12 or 7/12 rule, which applies to all newly opened cards. 3/12 is for those who don’t have a Bank of America deposit account, and 7/12 for those with a deposit account. So if you have a Bank of America checking account, you will only be declined for a new cards if you already have a total of 7 new cards in the last 12 months.
- It’s possible that they merge multiple applications in the same day into just one hard pull.
Guru’s Wrap-up
This offer could be a better deal if you can get some good value out of the 50% flight discount code. With this offer you are spending $500 less and earning 5,000 fewer points. But if travel dates and other restrictions still work for you, the discount could be more valuable than the points.
